What? Ranbir Kapoor-Alia Bhatt Took Only FOUR Pheras

Alia Bhat and Ranbir Kapoor tied their knot on 14th Apr 2022. The couple exchanged wedding vows in the presence of their families and a few close friends. RK’s Pali Hill house Vastu was the venue for their D-day. But did you know that their marriage had many unique element. Unlike any other Indian wedding, the couple took only four pheras instead of seven.

Recently, Alia’s brother Rahul Bhatt, who was also a part of the couple’s marriage, revealed this. He added that there was a special pandit who was very close to the Kapoors. He performed the wedding ritual with a different belief for the couple.

“So he explained the significance of each phera. Ek hota hain dharm ke liye, ek hota hain santaan ke liye, so it was really fascinating. We have not been exposed to this. I come from a household of multiple ethnicities. So, that was fascinating. There were not 7 pheras but 4 pheras for the record. And I was during all the 4 pheras,” said Rahul Bhatt in an interaction with a leading TV channel.

The 7 Pheras or the Saptapadi is the true essence of a Vedic wedding. Only when the bride and the groom take the 7 vows, they are called as married. The holy pyre becomes the witness in their journey. The bride and the groom hold their hands and take seven rounds around the Agni. They promise to be with each other for eternity.

The 1st PheraThe first phera of 7 Pheras implies Nourishment. The groom promises to take care of the welfare of his wife and their future children and satisfy the basic needs of food, shelter and money.  While the bride, also agrees to partake this responsibility with her husband.
The 2nd PheraThe second phera of 7 Pheras talks about the strength. They ask the almighty to give them the strength to love each other through all the thick and thin. They pledge to support each other and face all the mental, physical and emotional turbulence in life with courage.
The 3rd PheraIn the third phera of 7 Pheras, the couple seeks wealth and prosperity in their married life. They aspire to make life better for them as well as their progeny materialistically as well as spiritually. The bride and the groom also agree to devote themselves to each other and remain faithful and loyal.
The 4th PheraThe fourth phera is about strengthening and fortifying the bond with the family. It also talks about giving unconditional love and respect to each other. The groom acknowledges the bride for making his life complete and fulfilling. In return, the bride promises to love him and be with him forever.
The 5th PheraIn their journey of togetherness, the couple seeks the divine blessings for noble, healthy and happy progeny. They take vows to be responsible parents and nurture them in the best possible way. They also decide to not only be life partners but also friends to each other. 
The 6th PheraThe bride and the groom wish for a healthy and abundant life together. They desire to lead a life which is free from diseases and mental ailments so that they can enjoy the joys and pleasures of life. The ultimate goal is to lead a balanced life with their family, children and each other.
The 7th PheraThe last step binds the bride and the groom forever and makes them companions for a lifetime. They promise to strive for maturity and wisdom so that they can lead a life of mutual understanding, trust and peace. The pray that their love and friendship remain strong and they remain inseparable for life.

According to the media reports, the newly married couple will visit Siddhivinayak Temple in Mumbai. However, as per the recent updates, Alia Bhatt and Ranbir Kapoor are not planning to host a wedding reception. 

Ranbir Kapoor and Alia Bhatt fell in love while shooting for their film ‘Brahmāstra. They have been together for nearly four years now. They made their relationship official after they appeared together as a couple at Sonam Kapoor’s wedding in 2018.
