Desire to showcase India’s grace amidst American Culture gave birth to Sona Homes

Sona Homes is a byproduct of the long-cherished desire of Priyanka and her Business Partner Chopra Maneesh Goyal. Cherishing the memories of her travels around India, she had long expressed the desire of reliving them again. She fulfilled her desire by opening a restaurant ‘SONA’ in New York City. The word ‘Sona’ translates to Gold, and through it, she intended to showcase the rich culture she truly embodies the spirit. Sona opened in March 2021 and had “Indo Deco” interiors, a curated art collection, and an elevated menu that included crab puri with caviar. Here is Priyanka along with her friends at her restaurant.

Priyanka launched Sona Home, a Tableware collection

Priyanka has been a part of a couple of business ventures and also supported many. Sona Home is Priyanka’s recent venture. Together in collaboration with Goyal, a 45-piece tableware collection of diverse items ranging from dinner settings, to textiles, to bar accessories. Talking about her roots in India, she spoke about her country being a land of hospitality and having communities together. She also spoke about her entry into the entertainment space, and her love for hosting “We both love hosting. It’s a very Indian thing. Our tables only get larger with more people,” she says. “Growing up, we were always around cousins, family, and friends in a cacophony of laughter and food.”

Sona Homes seek inspiration from Rajasthan Grand Palaces

The word Sona in Indian culture means ‘GOLD’, which in India is a symbol of glory and Pompousness. Sona Homes derive its inspiration from geometric patterns of gemstones, mainly in emerald and white schemes. Lamp shades are curated from recycled saris, and palm trees are painted and embroidered throughout the collection.

Their pillars, their domes—there’s something really beautiful about them. I got married at one, they’re luxurious but also steeped in heritage.

Sona Home Collection caters to a global appeal

Although Sona Homes is a Priyanka’s tribute to her heritage, she chose to keep the concept global. She intended her collection to be universal. According to Priyanka, the main logic behind the design was to keep the looks global while imbibing the Indian roots. “Being able to be global and to be able to just be beautiful on any table setting was important to us.” The collection includes Coffee Mugs, Cereal Bowls, Wine Coasters, Bread Baskets, Candelabras, and a Gilded bottle cooler.
