Stereo Nation lead singer passes away due to liver failure. This news came as a shock for all his fans who were awaiting his recovery.Tarsem Singh known by the pen name ‘Taz’ was the lead singer of the pop band Stereo Nation. BBC Asia reported the news of his demise and it paid him tribute on Twitter. Tarsem created a mark in the domain of cross-cultural Asian Fusion music and became a sensation. Stereo Nation’s lead singer passed away yesterday due to liver failure. Earlier, following his liver condition he had slipped into coma. He was 54.

Taz rose to fame with his album album ‘Hit The Deck’ in 1989. He was the lead singer of the pop band Stereo Nation which was formed in 1996 and was called the pioneer of cross-cultural Asian fusion music. He produced many albums in the 1990s and his most popular album to the date is Slave II Fusion which was released in 2000. It included chartbusters like “Pyar Ho Gaya”, “Nachenge Saari Raat”, and “Gallan Gorian”.

Tarsem had contributions to Bollywood too.

Taz also contributed to the music of Bollywood films. He had songs like “Daroo Vich Pyar” (Tum Bin), “It’s magic” (Koi Mill Gaya), and ” Mujhpe To Jadoo” (Race) among others to his credit.

Celebrities mourn Tarsem’s loss

As soon as the news of Taz’s demise surfaced online, many celebrities expressed their grief. Singer Mika penned a note on Instagram that read, “The great Singer @tazstereonation has sadly left us with his beautiful memories. He was hospitalised recently and unfortunately in a coma. I’ve grown up listening to his music Lal lal bulliyan, nachange sari raat as well as other massive hits. May God bless his soul and he rest in eternal peace 🙏🏼.

Adnan Sani too passed his condolences in a tweet.

”Singer Jasbir Jassi wrote, “I remember I used to open the shows at the promotional tour you were doing to launch album ‘Oh Carol’ with Times Music and we became friends forever. Superstar in true sense and my dear friend you will always have a special place in my heart and professional life. We still had to do so much work together but you left us very soon. Today I lost a very dear friend and all of us a very talented and amazing artist. Rest in Peace #taz 🙏🙏🙏”Film producer Gurinder Chaddha shared a picture of herself with Taz and wrote, “Heartbroken to hear that a pioneer of the British Asian music scene has just left us. You cannot underestimate my excitement on first hearing #HitTheDeck. Singer Jay Sean wrote, “So sad to hear about the passing of this legend. You touched so many lives and continue to as your music lives on. May you rest in peace brother.”

A few weeks ago, the management team of Stereo Nation had shared Taz’s health update that read, “Dear All, Taz Sir is no longer in a coma, He’s showing improvements every day. The family has thanked everyone for their support and prayers during this difficult time. When there is more positive news, The family will let us all know. Thanks again for your postive thoughts🙏🏾.”
