Bhagat Singh was one of the most revered freedom fighters of Indian freedom struggle. He along with other freedom fighters like Chandrashekhar Azad, Rajguru and Sukhdev laid down their lives to win freedom for India. Even after their death, they continue to inspire us and that is the reason why Bollywood has made movies to highlight their contribution towards making India an independent nation.

Lets have a look at some of the most prominent Bollywood movies that are based on the life of Shaheed e Azam Bhagat Singh –

Shaheed 

Manoj Kumar played the lead role with authority

The movie is based on India’s greatest freedom fighter Sardar Bhagat Singh.

Shaheed is a 1965 biographical movie starring Manoj Kumar, Marathe, Prem Chopra and Anant Purushottam. Bhagat Singh is the son of Sardar Kishen Singh. His uncle Ajit Singh is arrested for speaking against British.

Bhagat follows the footsteps of his uncle and becomes a freedom fighter like him. Along with his friends, he decides to avenge the death of innocent protestors by killing Commissioner Saunders. He is later sentenced to death along with his friends and is executed in secret.

The Ajay Devgan plays the role of Bhagat Singh, a freedom fighter in the 2002 release and is directed by Rajkumar Santoshi. Actor Sushant Singh plays the role of Sukhdev and D Santosh as Rajguru. The iconic song composed by A.R Rahman includes Mera Rang De Basanti Chola and Sarfaroshi Ki Tamanna.

Actor Ajay Devgan wins the National Film Awards for his outstanding acting. The film depicts the scene of Lahore Central Jail when the prisoners Sukhdev and Rajguru were on 116 days of hunger strike and later on hanged on 23 March, 1931.

Actor Siddharth played the role of Bhagat Singh and Aamir Khan stamped his authority as an actor playing Chandra Shekhar Azad. The Hindi drama film was directed by Rakeysh Omprakash Mehra. The film revolves around the peaceful protest at the India Gate in Delhi. The movie’s distinctive songs like Luka Chuppi was sung by mythical Lata Mangeshkar with A R Rahman. The movie has received a positive response from the audience and made its entry into the Golden Globe Awards.

This is one of the most memorable movies of Sonu Sood

The inspirational biographical film was directed by Sukumar Nair and released on 31 May 2002. Sonu Sood plays the role of Shaheed Bhagat Singh. His performance gained a praising response from audiences.
