There are shown various groups working towards one common cause which is India’s Freedom. Rated as one of the best Quit India Movies, it has certain sequences that are questionable. However, needless to say, the first 5 minutes are extremely powerful and nothing can take that away.
Ajay Devgan’s The Legend of Bhagat Singh
1942 A Love Story
Although this movie did not fare that well, but its songs very much made up for it. Especially the song ‘Ek Ladki Ko Dekha Toh Aisa Laga’ makes one fall in love again. A love story set in the middle of the Quit India Movement, 1942 A Love Story takes on real issues. A trail mix of protests, inhumane treatment of Indians, conflicts of the British Indian officers and some out of place romantic sequences. While some sequences appear strange and out of place like a protest march interrupting a love song. Not to forget the chemistry of the ever charming Manisha Koirala and our evergreen Anil Kapoor. Its songs remain fresh when even heard today. Another popular song Kuch Na kaho was abundant in emotions.
Rang De Basanti
Talking about Quit India Movement, it would not be befitting to leave Rang De Basanti. A new concept movie depicting how the current generations perceive Independence. Character remain the same but the roles and perception emerge in the new context. Rang De Basanti starred Aamir Khan, Siddharth, R. Madhavan, Atul Kulkarni, Soha Ali Khan, Sharman Joshi, Kunal Kapoor and British actress Alice Patten. The plot runs around a British film student coming to India to shoot story of Indian revolutionary movement. She befriends and casts five young men in the film, which inspires them to fight against the corruption of their own government. The film was shot primarily in New Delhi. Movie got various National and International awards. Awards included National Film Award for Best Popular Film, Best Foreign Language Film at the 2007 BAFTA Awards, and Official entry for the Golden Globe Awards and the Academy Awards in the Best Foreign Language Film category, though it did not ultimately yield a nomination for either award. The movie is worth watching as it is built on a completely new concept. In the movie’s story, a group of school teachers secretly train students and attack an army base successfully. The best part is that the women lead the group. Although in the long run the army reoccupies the group and kills majority of them, it is definitely a story of valor and bravery. Ashutosh Gowarker directed the movie and stars Abhishek and Deepika and is directed by Ashutosh Gowariker.

Frankly speaking the movie got into the list of my Quit India movies due to my sheer love of sports. Also it is a tribute to the team who won the first Olympic Hockey Gold in 1948. Gold: The Dream That United our Nation or just Gold is an Indian Hindi sports movie. Reema Kagti wrote and directed the movie, Farhan Akhtar and Ritesh produced the movie. Led by a star ensemble of Akshay Kumar, Mouni Roy, Amit Sadh, Kunal Kapoor, Sunny Kaushal and Nikita Dutta, it is based on India’s first national team to Olympics. The movie was a tribute to Tapan Das, the man who won India’s first Gold. Although not a Quit India movie, but India’s independence was ignited there.
